Nestled in the serene section of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, the Dominican Nuns of the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament strive to walk in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Founder, St. Dominic, with an unwavering commitment to a life of profound devotion, dedication to prayer and contemplation, commitment to study, and communion with one another.
At the heart of our monastery lies a profound commitment to a life of contemplation and prayer. We follow in the footsteps of St. Dominic, who founded the cloistered Dominican nuns to be the radiant heart of holy preaching. Our days are filled with the solemn celebration of the liturgy, where we chant God's praises in both English and Latin, using our traditional Dominican chant.
In the quietude of our community life, we seek to balance prayer, study, work, and contemplation. Our dedication finds its expression in Eucharistic Adoration and the Perpetual Rosary, where we intercede for the needs of the world. We embrace the profound importance of prayer, study, and work, giving ourselves wholly to Jesus through Mary, with a deep desire for the salvation of souls.
While our life is centered on contemplation, it reaches beyond the cloister walls. We actively engage in the world, nurturing the earth through crop and vegetable farming, fishery, poultry, piggery, and beekeeping. We produce altar bread, bread for daily sustenance, candles, and confectioneries, infusing each endeavour with spiritual significance.
